Challenge

Increase attendee satisfaction and promote Hertie School's Master Degree program

Data4Good Festival’s team sought to find an alternative to manually managed Discord channels to streamline attendee support. Always exploring innovative ways to enhance event engagement through technology, the Hertie Data Science Lab team partnered with doWow to test an AI-powered event assistant.

Primary Goals:

  • Automate and outsource responses to frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • Promote the Hertie School’s Master of Data Science (MDS) program
  • Provide real-time navigation assistance for participants in Berlin

Outcome

A custom, secure and comprehensive agent, showcasing AI capabilities in a practical and impactful way.

Accessible via a QR code or URL, the agent provided readily available support and enhanced the overall experience for all attendees without the need to install any apps.

The agent was trained on internal event data, as well as publicly available information about Hertie School and its Master Degree program. It also included Google Maps navigation, weather data, and city guide information.

Instant support

Participants gained answers to questions regarding the event schedule, hackathon guidelines, and learning materials, freeing up organizers’ time and reducing manual workload.

Intuitive navigation

The AI agent provided real-time guidance on Berlin’s public transport, recommended local attractions, and suggested dining options via Google Maps integration.

Expanding promotional channels

Integrated with information on the Hertie School’s Master of Data Science program, the AI agent engaged participants in conversations, offering key details and application guidance.

Barrier-free accessibility

Accessible via a QR code or URL on both desktop and mobile, the agent did not require downloading an app. The interface offered adjustable font sizes, light/dark modes, and both voice and text interaction.
